When a person feels that something is missing, or that something just doesn’t quite fit on an existential level those people often seek transformation or growth. Learning wilderness survival, or plant based medicine making is awesome. It is really fun, and you can get a lot out of it, but if you really want growth or change you need to Really push yourself, to have a rite of passage so to speak. Our modern society separates us from nature as well as from other people. We feel the need to move as fast as we can all of the time, and to be “productive” Yet, we often don’t feel as if we are really LIVING!
During your time In the Resident program you will gain a whole new skill set of primitive living techniques. We will practice the basic skills of friction fire, foraging, fishing, and hunting everyday. This is how you will feed yourself, cook your food, and heat your shelter.
We will also work on skills such as: brain tanning, making buckskin clothing, Flint knapping, bow and arrow making. Foraging and wildlife tracking will be a big part of the program. Foraging gives us a source of food, medicine, and Tools. Tracking gives us insight into what types of wildlife we have around us. It also helps us understand their movements and habits. These skills will create a whole new level of relationship between you and the natural world around you. Once you know that you can do these things your outlook on life will never be the same.
Along with the primitive living skills we will also be working on Mindfulness, awareness, and nature connection. In large part these things will happen just from being in nature living in tune with with the forest. However, we will do some intentional training. We will practice meditation, and being in the moment. We will perform awareness exercises and games. This will be the steepest learning curve as you immerse yourself into the lifestyle of the natural world you will also be changing the way that you see it. You will see how we are all interconnected, not only with other humans, but with all living things.
The program is 1, 2, or 3 months. We ask: $6,000.00 for the full 3 month program or $2,500.00 per month for 1 or 2 months. As this program is challenging, and you will spend a lot of time alone in the wild of NW Wisconsin, we have a 10 day prerequisite. You will come to our land and stay for 10 days. During the first 3 days of the Camp we will guide you in the basic skills of survival. We will work on gathering and processing firewood, Basic fire starting, Knife skills, First aid, and other skills that are needed to successfully navigate a wilderness lifestyle. The next 3 days you will be alone in the woods. We will give you food, and a few “assignments” but you will be alone. This isolation is a huge challenge foe many people. We offer this 10 day experience as means to determine whether or not you will choose to pursue the more rigorous 3 month program. The cost of the 10 day experience is $700.00. If you choose to continue into the 3 month program the cost of the 10 day camp will be deducted from the cost of the immersion program.
